Chelsea Team News: Mourinho Confirms Injury Boost Ahead Of Newcastle Trip
Jose Mourinho has confirmed an injury boost ahead of Chelsea’s trip to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United this weekend. Here’s his latest update.
Chelsea will look to climb up the Premier League table when they take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.
Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference and has given Chelseafc.com a team news and injury update.
The Portuguese coach was pleased to reveal that Willian is once again available after recovering from a hamstring injury that he picked up during Chelsea’s Champions League win over Maccabi Tel Aviv earlier this month.
The Brazilian attacker had been forced to sit out of recent wins over Arsenal and Walsall but Mourinho says he’s now fit and available for selection for tomorrow nights trip to Newcastle.
Thibaut Courtois remains out with a knee injury but otherwise Mourinho will have a fully-fit squad to choose from. The only other player not available is Diego Costa as he serves the second of his three-game suspension.
Loic Remy has put himself in the frame to start up front in place of the Spanish international while Radamel Falcao is another option, but Mourinho insists he’s yet to decide who will lead the line tomorrow.
Here’s what he had to say earlier today:
