Man Utd vs Wolfsburg Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Up, Betting Tips & Prediction
Man Utd take on Wolfsburg at Old Trafford this evening. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-up, betting tips and predicted score for the game.
Man Utd will look to get their Champions League campaign back on track when they take on Wolfsburg at Old Trafford tonight.
The Red Devils slumped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven on matchday one so they will be desperate to put things right and get back to winning ways on home soil this evening.
Louis van Gaal’s men secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday which took them to the top of the Premier League table so they should be full of confidence heading in to the game.
United have only played Wolfsburg in competitive football twice with the Manchester giants emerging victorious on both occasions back in 2009 so they’ll be hoping to maintain their 100% record against the Germans.
However, Wolfsburg are a much-improved side these days and beat CSKA Moscow 1-0 two weeks ago so they’ll look to take another step closer to qualification from Group B with a positive result at Old Trafford.

Team news
United have fitness doubts over four players after Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo all missed training on Tuesday afternoon.
van Gaal has confirmed that Carrick, Herrera and Valencia all have minor knocks and he’s not willing to risk their long-term fitness so it appears the trio may all sit this one out.
Rojo has already missed the last two games with a hamstring injury that he picked up against Southampton and it looks like the Argentine will remain on the sidelines tonight.
Defender Paddy McNair could be back in contention after returning to training following a minor injury but Luke Shaw remains out for the foreseeable future.
Youngsters Josh Harrop, Donald Love and James Weir could be in the squad after training with the first team yesterday.
As for Wolfsburg, they’ll be without Vierinha, Felipe and Robin Knoche while Luiz Gustavo is also a major doubt.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 Wolfsburg: United are starting to really find their form and they have an excellent record against German sides having won 10 of their last 14 games. Wolfsburg are a dangerous side but I think United might just edge this one.
Betting Tips
United are the 7/10 favourites to win the game but Football-Talk can get new customers enhanced odds of 6/1 on a home win. My prediction of 2-1 is available at odds of 15/2, while I also like the look of Memphis Depay to open the scoring at odds of 13/2. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast, then we get very tempting odds of 30/1.
