Chelsea Team News: Mourinho Confirms Fresh Injury Blow Ahead Of Dynamo Kiev Clash
Jose Mourinho has confirmed a big injury blow ahead of Chelsea clash with Kiev tomorrow but two players were back in training today. See the latest here
Chelsea will look to give their hopes of qualifying from Group G in the Champion League a major boost when they take on Dynamo Kiev at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night.
Ahead of the game, boss Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and has revealed the latest team and injury news.
Unfortunately the Portuguese coach confirmed a fresh injury blow as Radamel Falcao is facing another spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscular injury in training this morning.
The Colombian international’s career has been blighted by injury and while this latest setback isn’t thought to be as serious as the ACL injury he suffered 18 months ago, Falcao is still expected to spend several weeks on the sidelines.
However, there was some positive team news for Chelsea today as Pedro Rodriguez and Branislav Ivanovic both returned to training at Cobham this morning.
Pedro hasn’t featured for Chelsea since their win over Aston Villa two-and-a-half weeks ago while Ivanovic has been on the sidelines with a hamstring injury that he sustained on international duty a month ago.
It remains to be seen whether either player will be in contention to return to the squad tomorrow night but the good news is it seems they are now both back on the road to recovery.
Falcao has struggled to establish himself so far during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge but with him on the sidelines, Diego Costa is now almost certain to lead the line against Kiev tomorrow night.
Jose: 'Today Falcao picked up an important muscular injury and he will be out for a few weeks.' #CFC
