Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways when they entertain Chelsea at Old Trafford on Monday evening. Assuming he’s still in charge come kick off, here is the side I think van Gaal will pick:
Goalkeeper: David de Gea is certain to start between the sticks once again on Monday.
Defence: van Gaal has limited option in defence with Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw all out injured so I expect he’ll field the same back four that lost at Stoke.
That will see Ashley Young continue at right-back and join Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind at the back.
Midfield: Morgan Schneiderlin was once again on the bench on Saturday so he could get a recall to give Michael Carrick a well earned breather. Bastian Schweinsteiger returns from his three-game suspension and is almost certain to resume is role in the middle of the park at the expense of Marouane Fellaini.
Attack: Ander Herrera could keep his place after making his return to the first team at the Britannia while Juan Mata is expected to be retained on the right wing. Wayne Rooney was surprisingly left out against Stoke but the skipper should return to the starting eleven tomorrow which could see Anthony Martial move to the left wing and Memphis Depay drop out after being hauled off at half time on Saturday.
Here is how we think United will line-up:
Back Man Utd to win at crazy odds of 6/1 + money back if you lose
What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
