Arsenal Dealt Major Injury Blow As Star Ruled Out For At Least 6 Weeks

Arsenal have been dealt another major injury blow with Arsene Wenger confirming that Jack Wilshere isn’t expected to return for at least another six weeks.

Wilshere hasn’t made a single appearance this season after suffering a fractured fibula in training back in early August and he was ruled out for around three months after undergoing surgery in September.

The 23-year-old was initially expected to make his comeback in the New Year, however, his recovery has been slow and now it appears we’re going to have to make-do without the midfielder for another prolonged period.

Speaking after our 4-0 defeat at Southampton, Arsene told reporters that Wilshere isn’t likely to be available for at least six weeks meaning the earliest we’ll see the midfielder back in the first team is February at the earliest.

“He will not be back before February, that’s for sure,” Wenger is quoted as saying in the Guardian.

“Is there a comeback date? I say February but, honestly, I don’t know. I let him do his recovery. It’s going slowly. Once he goes outside to train and once he is back again into sharp, hard work, physically, you count five or six weeks. At the moment, he is not there yet.”

This news is a major blow as we’re already short of options in midfield with the likes of Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla also out with long-term injuries, so to lose Wilshere for at least another six weeks is devastating.

Even if he doesn’t suffer any further set-backs and Jack returns in February, he’s going to take some time to get back up to match fitness so it could be well in to March until we start to see him back to his best.

Obviously he could still play a key role during the final stages of the campaign but this has been a disastrous season for Wilshere and he also faces a fight to get himself back in the reckoning for England’s Euro 2016 squad next summer.
