Arsenal Boss Delivers Positive Injury Update On Midfield Trio
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has delivered a positive update on Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta with all three edging their way back to full fitness
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has delivered a positive update on injured midfielders Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta with all three edging their way back to full fitness.
Wilshere is yet to feature this season after undergoing surgery on a fractured fibula that he suffered back in August and there were fears the midfielder may not get himself fit in time to make England’s Euro 2016 squad.
However, Wenger insists that Wilshere is still on course to return in February and is confident he will have plenty of time to prove his fitness to Roy Hodgson ahead of next summers European Championships.
Rosicky is another player who hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football this season due to a knee injury which he suffered while away on international duty in the summer, but the boss has confirmed the 35-year-old should be back in training in three weeks.
Arteta has been on the sidelines in recent weeks after suffering a calf problem but the Spaniard is now also closing in on making his comeback after returning to full training – although Arsene says he’s still lacking match fitness.
The boss told Arsenal.com:
on Arteta…
Arteta is back in training but is too short [of match fitness] to be selected in a competitive game.on Rosicky…
He is three weeks away [from training] now.on if Jack Wilshere will make Euro 2016…
I maintain what I said that he could make it back for February. He will be available again. Considering you play the Euros on June 10, that is a long way.
It will be a huge boost when these three are available again as we’ve seen our midfield options decimated by injury during the past few months. Wilshere’s return in particular could prove vital during the second half of the season so let’s hope he can get himself fit as soon as possible and help maintain our push for the title.
