Paul Merson Offers His Predicted Score Ahead Of Chelsea’s Clash With Aston Villa

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa this weekend.

The Blues head to Villa Park on Saturday lunchtime knowing they need a minor miracle in order to force their way back in to the top four to qualify for the Champions League next season.

A disastrous title defence has left the West Londoners sitting way down in tenth position in the table and a full ten points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City so Guus Hiddink knows only a win will do tomorrow if they’re to retain any slim hopes of finishing in the top four.

Thankfully they face a beleaguered Aston Villa side who are almost certainly heading to the Championship as they sit rock bottom of the table having picked up just 15 points all season leading to the sacking of Reme Garde as manager last week.

It comes as no surprise then that Paul Merson is predicting a comfortable Chelsea win tomorrow with the Sky Sports pundit tipping the Blues to beat managerless Villa 3-0 this weekend.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said:

I don’t see anything but a Chelsea win. I don’t know what has happened at Villa, it’s a bit of a joke to be honest. They had a two-week break and then sack the manager three days before the next game, very strange.

He should have gone ages ago. He should have gone after the transfer window when they didn’t sign anybody, but he stayed and they haven’t got any better.

PAUL PREDICTS: 0-3

We’ll have to wait and see whether Merson’s prediction proves accurate but it’s tough to see anything other than an away win this weekend as Villa have been hapless for the entire season.

While Chelsea may be left with little to play for themselves, their superior quality should ensure they head back to London with all three points tomorrow. If you think so too, then….
