Transfer News: Spurs Steal March On Arsenal & Man Utd With £16m Bid

Tottenham appears to have stolen a march on rivals Arsenal and Manchester United after tabling a £16m bid for Lille winger Soufiane Boufal

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, three Premier League clubs are linked with Sofiane Boufal….

Tottenham appear to have stolen a march on rivals Arsenal and Manchester United after tabling a £16m bid for Lille winger Soufiane Boufal, according to the Mirror.

Boufal has been in excellent form for Lille this season having scored 12 goals in his 31 league games so far in what is his first full season with the club after joining from Angers in January 2015.

The 22-year-old has been attracting interest from the Premier League with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been showing a keen interest, while the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan have also bee keeping an eye on the attacker.

However, it looks as though Spurs have put themselves in pole position ahead of their rivals as the newspaper cite’s a report coming from French outlet Foot Mercato which suggests that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have now tabled an opening offer worth £16m.

The report doesn’t give indication as to how Lille have responded to Tottenham’s bid but we’ll now have to wait and see if it forces Arsenal and United to step up their interest in the Moroccan international.

Spurs are enjoying an excellent campaign and can keep their title hopes alive with a win over West Brom this evening, but it looks as though Pochettino is already planning for next season with Boufal firmly on his radar.

However, a deal is still a long way from completion so North London rivals Arsenal could yet hijack their move with Arsene Wenger coming under increasing pressure to spend this summer following another frustrating season.

The future’s of Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are unclear so Wenger may turn to Boufal should either of the England international’s leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

United could also be serious contenders but you’d expect any transfer dealings to be put on hold until the future of manager Louis van Gaal is resolved, with widespread speculation suggesting Jose Mourinho has been lined-up to replace the Dutchman at the end of the season.
