Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a £23.5m deal to sign Manchester United and Liverpool target Alexandre Lacazette this summer, according to the Mirror.
Lacazette became one of the most wanted strikers in European football after hitting 31 goals for Lyon last season but he decided to rebuff a big-money move away in favour of staying with the Ligue 1 outfit.
The 24-year-old has continued to impress this campaign with 20 goals to his name so far and once again it’s led to speculation of a potential move to the Premier League this summer.
The Mirror claim that Manchester United and Liverpool are showing a keen interesting in signing the French international but it appears the north-west duo will face stiff competition from Tottenham.
The report suggests that Spurs are now firmly in pole position to sign Lacazette at the end of the season with the striker supposedly looking ‘certain’ to move to White Hart Lane in a £23.5m deal this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men look set to come up short in the title race after drawing with West Brom last night but they’ve made excellent progress this season and it looks like the Argentinean coach is ready to further strengthen his squad this summer.
A new striker is thought to be a priority and Lacazette would be an excellent addition if they could lure him to North London as he’d provide a viable alternative to Harry Kane – who’s been overworked having played 97 games over the past two seasons alone.

We’ll have to wait and see whether United and Liverpool step-up their interest to try and hijack Tottenham proposed deal. Louis van Gaal could certainly do with another striker to offer a goal threat next year while Jurgen Klopp is likely to need a replacement for Christian Benteke, with the Belgian expected to be sold this summer.
Lacazette would be a great buy for either club, however, a move to Spurs could appeal to the Frenchman as they’re able to offer Champions League football, plus former team-mates Hugo Lloris and Clinton N’Jie will help him settle in at the Lane.
