Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in showing a keen interest in signing Napoli’s £20m-rated centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this summer
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are linked with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly……..
Arsenal have joined Chelsea and Manchester United in showing a keen interest in signing Napoli’s £20m-rated centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, according to the Telegraph.
Arsene Wenger kicked off his summer transfer business with the arrival of Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach yesterday and it seems the Gunners boss is now turning his attention to signing a new centre-back.
Gabriel has failed to prove he’s capable of being the long-term replacement for Per Mertesacker since arriving from Villarreal in January 2015 and the Telegraph claim Wenger has now identified Koulibaly as the man to partner Laurent Koscielny next season.
The Senegalese international has enjoyed a superb season with Napoli and was hugely impressive during his 42 appearances in all competitions having helped the club secure a second placed finish in Serie A behind champions Juventus.
The 6ft 5ins powerhouse would certainly give Arsenal some much-needed strength in the middle of defence with familiar frailties at the back playing a key role in the North Londoners failure to land the Premier League title this season.
However, Arsenal aren’t the only club in the running for Koulibaly’s signature as the Telegraph claim that Chelsea and Manchester United have also shown a keen interest in the 24-year-old, so it looks as though three of England’s most powerful clubs are set to battle-it-out over his signature this summer.
Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is expected to be busy in the transfer market rebuilding the squad following a disastrous campaign in West London and a long-term replacement for John Terry is likely to be high on his agenda.
Jose Mourinho looks all-set to take over at Old Trafford following Louis van Gaal’s sacking earlier this week and the Portuguese coach is going to need to bring in another centre-back to compliment Chris Smalling after Daley Blind was forced to fill-in at the back this season.

Koulibaly would be a superb addition for either Arsenal, Chelsea or United but they better be prepared to dig deep as the Telegraph suggest Napoli will demand around £20m for his signature this summer.
