Chelsea & Liverpool Express Interest In Signing For French International
Chelsea and Liverpool have expressed their interest in signing an unsettled French international this summer. Find out who the player is and all the details
The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea and Liverpool are linked with Moussa Sissoko….
Chelsea and Liverpool have enquired about a potential deal for Moussa Sissoko but face competition as Hamburg have opened the bidding with a £9.5m offer for the Newcastle midfielder, according to L’Equipe.
Sissoko was one of the rare shining lights for Newcastle last season but he was unable to prevent the Magpies from relegation to the Championship after they finished 18th in the Premier League table last season.
The Frenchman is one of several international stars who are expected to leave St James Park this summer and it looks like the midfielder has attracted interest from England as influential French outlet L’Equipe claim that Chelsea and Liverpool have made contact with Newcastle to enquire about his availability.
Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer putting his own stamp on the Chelsea squad and Sissoko’s versatility would appeal to the Italian tactician – who’s known to tinker with his tactics throughout the campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has already been active this summer having brought in three new faces to Anfield and the German coach could be eyeing Sissoko as he looks to build a squad capable of breaking in to the top four next season.
However, it looks like the Premier League duo will face some stiff competition from the Bundesliga as L’Equipe claim that Hamburg have tabled an opening £9.5m offer for the 26-year-old midfielder.
We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea or Liverpool decide to step-up their interest with formal bids of their own but the report indicates that any club hoping to sign Sissoko will need to pay at least £13.5m for his services.
Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has expressed his desire to keep hold of the midfield as he looks to gain promotion straight back to the top flight next season, however, Sissoko has already said he wants to leave so it’s going to be difficult to persuade him to remain in the north-east.
