The opening of the summer transfer window is now open for business so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, the race for Moussa Sissoko hots-up….
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham will now face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund for the signature of £20m-rated Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to the Daily Star.
Sissoko’s future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks with the midfielder one of several international stars who’re expected to leave St James’ Park following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship last season.
The 26-year-old looked set for an immediate return to the Premier League as the Daily Star claim that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all showing a keen interest in signing the midfielder this summer.
Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad and while a striker is thought to be his priority, the Gunners boss could have identified Sissoko as a potential replacement for either Theo Walcott or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with both England international’s tipped to leave the Emirates following poor seasons.
Jurgen Klopp has been busy in the market this summer adding to his squad but the German coach is expected to bring in another midfielder with Jordon Ibe joining Bournemouth and Joe Allen linked with a move away from Anfield and Sissoko would be a useful signing for the Merseysiders.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also looking to strengthen his squad ahead of their participation in the Champions League next season and it seems the Argentinean coach has also earmarked the Newcastle midfielder as a potential new recruit.
However, the English trio are now going to face some stiff competition as the Daily Star are citing reports coming out of France from L’Equipe that claim Borussia Dortmund have now put themselves in to pole position to sign Sissoko this summer.
There has been talk of Newcastle demanding around £35m for the midfielder following his excellent display in the final of Euro 2016 but the Daily Star suggest that the Magpies have revised their asking price to a far more realistic £20m.
Sissoko has certainly put himself in the shop window with his performances at Euro 2016 and I think he’d be a very useful signing for any of the clubs linked as he’s capable of playing out wide or through the middle and has plenty of top level experience.
