Arsenal To Submit £35m Offer As Wenger Plots Striker Swoop
Arsenal are ready to table a £35 million offer for a French international as Arsene Wenger looks to finally get his hands on a new striker this summer.
The summer transfer window is in full swing so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are set to table an improved offer for Alexandre Lacazette….
Arsenal are ready to test Lyon’s resolve with a fresh £35m bid for Alexandre Lacazette as Arsene Wenger looks to finally land a new striker this summer, according to the Telegraph.
Wenger has been trying to get his hands on a new front-man to compete with Olivier Giroud this coming season since Danny Welbeck was ruled out for nine months with a serious knee injury back in May.
We saw our pursuit of Jamie Vardy fail after he decided to remain at Leicester City while we’ve also missed out on the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Alvaro Morata following their moves to Juventus and Real Madrid respectively.
Lacazette has emerged as a likely target in recent weeks with Lyon confirming three days ago that they’d rejected our opening £29.3m offer with president Jean-Michel Aulas insisting the striker was not for sale at any price.
However, it looks like we’re about to test that theory as the Telegraph claim that Wenger is ready to go back in with an improved offer worth £35m for the French international hitman.
We’ll have to wait and see whether that fresh bid will be enough to tempt Lyon in to a sale but Lacazette would be an excellent addition for Arsenal if we were able to lure him to the Emirates this summer.
The 25-year-old has scored 54 goals for Lyon over the past two seasons so he would certainly bring a much-needed goal threat to the squad and he’d provide top class competition for Giroud and Theo Walcott this campaign.

Let’s hope Wenger is able to get a deal wrapped-up swiftly as with Giroud expected to miss the opening weekend of the season, Walcott is currently our only senior option through the middle for the visit of Liverpool and his form in pre-season has been concerning.
