Chelsea have been dealt a huge injury blow after a key player confirmed on Instagram that he’s been ruled out of Friday’s Liverpool game with a foot injury.

Chelsea have been dealt a huge injury blow after skipper John Terry confirmed on Instagram that he’s been ruled out of Friday’s Liverpool game with a foot injury.

Terry suffered the injury during the final minute of Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City on Sunday afternoon after rolling his ankle following a clash with striker Leroy Fer in stoppage time.

The 35-year-old limped off the pitch and was seen leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches with Antonio Conte confirming after the game that they’d need to do further tests before the full extent of the injury was known.

A scan was pencilled in for Monday but had to be postponed until Tuesday morning due to the severe swelling and Terry has been posting regular updates on social media as he tried desperately to get himself fit for Friday’s Liverpool clash.

However, the centre-back has uploaded another message to Instagram this afternoon confirming that he has strained ligaments in his ankle and has been ruled out for 10 days meaning he’ll miss Friday night’s game with the Merseysiders.

The experienced defender says he’s ‘absolutely gutted’ but will do his best to get back on the field as quickly as possible. Terry posted the following on Instagram:

Chelsea have also confirmed the news on their official website so it looks like Terry will now sit out upcoming games against Liverpool and Leicester City [League Cup] but he could be back in contention for the trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal on September 24.

In Terry’s absence, David Luiz is set to come in and make his second debut for the club after completing a big-money move from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline day.
