[Photos] Man Utd Duo Tipped To Miss Liverpool Game After Skipping Pre-Match Warm-Up
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial are set to miss Man Utd’s clash with Liverpool after being absent from the clubs pre-match warm-up around the city centre
It looks like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial are set to miss Manchester United’s huge clash with Liverpool tonight after being absent from the clubs pre-match warm-up around the city centre this afternoon.
Mkhitaryan was passed fit by Jose Mourinho at his pre-match press conference on Friday after recovering from a thigh injury that’s kept him on the sidelines since the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City last month.
Martial started United’s last Premier League game against Stoke City before the international break and there have been no reports of any injury so the Frenchman was expected to be in contention for a starting spot at Anfield tonight.
However, both Martial and Mkhitaryan are now being tipped to miss the match after being left out of United’s pre-match stroll around Liverpool city centre this afternoon where the rest of the squad were pictured warming up and stretching in a car park near the Titanic Hotel.
The reason for their absence is not known but Martial has fuelled speculation that he’s set to miss the match after deleting a message on Twitter that said he was looking forward to the Liverpool showdown.
It would be a big blow for seventh-placed United if Martial and Mkhitaryan were ruled out of the game as Mourinho desperately needs a win in order to close the gap on Liverpool and the rest of the leading pack.
