Boxing Day Betting Preview: Tips For Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd Games
Here is the Football-Talk betting preview for Boxing Day games involving Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
With the majority of other football teams throughout Europe enjoying a well-earned break, Premier League sides are gearing up for a hectic festive period which kicks off on Boxing Day. Here is our betting preview for some of Monday’s key games:
Man Utd v Sunderland
United welcome former manager David Moyes to Old Trafford for the first time since he was sacked in 2014 with both clubs desperate for points but for very different reasons.
Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd team have found some form of late following three consecutive victories over Tottenham, Crystal Palace and West Brom which has seen them move to within four points of the top four.
Sunderland on the other hand sit in the bottom three but they could move out of the relegation zone with a win if other results go their way so Moyes will be hoping to pull off a shock result against his former side.
Understandably United are the heavy favourites at 2/9 and with Mourinho confirming they have virtually a full-fit squad to choose from, it’s difficult to see past an in-form United side picking up all three points on Monday.
However, we can get you enhanced odds of 4/1 on a United win while for even more value you could bet on Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring first in a 3-0 win at 12/1.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth
The Blues have been on a sensational run since late September with Antonio Conte’s side beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park last week to make it 11 league victories in a row.
That run has seen Chelsea open up a six point lead at the top of the Premier League table and no side has ever not gone on to lift the title having been six clear at Christmas so the signs are looking good for the west Londoners.
Therefore, it’s understandable that the bookmakers have made Chelsea the 4/6 odds-on favourites to win the league this season meaning there is little value left in betting on the Blues. However, if you use a Sun Bets free bet to back Chelsea to win the title then all winnings would be clear profit should Conte’s men go on to win the title.
Another win on Boxing Day would cement Chelsea’s position at the top even further and they will be confident of easing past an inconsistent Bournemouth side on home soil despite being without the suspended Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante.
Conte’s men are the 2/5 favourites to win the game but for more value we like the look of Eden Hazard opening the scoring in a 2-1 win at odds of 18/1.
Arsenal vs West Brom
The Gunners have seen their campaign derailed by disappointing back-to-back defeats at Everton and Manchester City so Arsene Wenger will be desperate to get their season back on track on Monday.
Arsenal have gone from sitting top of the table a week ago to languishing in fourth and trailing Chelsea by nine points so anything but victory over eighth-placed West Brom would be a disaster.
That may not be a straightforward task as the Baggies arrive at the Emirates on Monday flying high despite recent defeats to Chelsea and Man Utd so Arsenal will have to take this game seriously.
The north Londoners are the 7/20 favourites to win the game while I also like the look of both team to score at evens. However, we can get you enhanced odds of 4/1 on an Arsenal win which should be very tempting.
