Wayne Rooney become Manchester United’s all-time record goal-scorer after netting a late equaliser to salvage a point during a 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium this afternoon.
The visitors opened the scoring mid-way through the first half when Juan Mata was unfortunate to put through his own net following a powerful cross from Erik Pieters in the 19th minute.
It looked as though United were set to slump to their first defeat in 18 games, however, Jose Mourinho’s side snatched a point at the death as Rooney curled home a stunning free-kick to not only salvage a 1-1 draw but he also becomes the clubs all-time record goal-scorer with 250 goals.
The result leaves United sitting sixth in the Premier League table but they are now just a single point behind fifth-placed Manchester City ahead of their clash with Tottenham this evening, while Stoke remain ninth.
