[Video Goals] Arsenal 1-2 Watford: Shambolic Gunners Blow Title Chances
Any hopes of Arsenal winning the title are surely over for another season after a shambolic first half display saw us lose 2-1 to Watford at the Emirates.
Any hopes of Arsenal winning the title are surely over for another season after a shambolic first half display saw us lose 2-1 to Watford at the Emirates this evening.
Not for the first time this season, we started poorly and got punished when a Younes Kaboul free-kick took a heavy deflection off Aaron Ramsey to wrong foot Petr Cech for 0-1 after just 10 minutes.
Things went from bad to worse as just 3 minutes later it was 2-0. Etienne Capoue was able to charge through a non-existent Arsenal defence and while Cech did well to save his shot the rebound fell to Troy Deeney who had the simple task of making it 2-0.
We got ourselves back in the game early in the second half after Alex Iwobi volleyed home following some excellent work from Alexis Sanchez to make it 1-2 in the 58th minute.
However, the closest we came to finding the equaliser saw Lucas Perez rattle the crossbar late on as Watford held out to secure a 2-1 win which leaves our title hopes in tatters.
To make matters worse, we have a midfield crisis for the Chelsea game on Saturday as Aaron Ramsey was forced off with a hamstring injury while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finished the game limping.
