Liverpool Team News: Klopp Confirms Double Injury Blow Ahead Of Everton Clash
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a double injury blow ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Everton on Saturday with two key men ruled out.
Liverpool will look to cement their position in the top four when they take on Everton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.
The Reds boss confirmed a huge blow with the news that Jordan Henderson has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a foot injury that’s kept him on the sidelines since late February.
Henderson has missed the last five league games and there were hopes he’d be able to return after the recent international break but this setback means he’s still not able to return to training and Klopp refused to put a timescale on the midfielders comeback.
The German coach also revealed that Daniel Sturridge won’t be in contention to face Everton tomorrow despite being photographed back out on the training pitches at Melwood yesterday.
Sturridge hasn’t started a game for Liverpool in almost two months with illness initially keeping him on the sidelines before picking up a hip injury which has hampered him in recent weeks.
There were reports that the England international could be back in the squad against the Toffees tomorrow after he was spotted at Melwood on Thursday, however, Klopp has ruled the striker out of the game after revealing Sturridge was only working with the rehab coach yesterday.
There is slightly better news regarding the fitness of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino as Klopp says the attackers are both fine after making a swift return back from international duty with Brazil earlier this week.
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com:
“No chance [of Sturridge being involved]. I heard he’s back to training, I don’t know who gave this information. When a player is on the pitch with a rehab coach, that’s not back to training.
“That’s the situation in this moment. He’s in a good way, but [has] no chance for the weekend.”
Klopp on Henderson: "Unfortunately he's had a little setback. He's not in team training until now. I can't say how long."

The only other injury concern for Liverpool is Adam Lallana after the midfielder was ruled out with a thigh injury that he picked up playing for England earlier this week.
With Lallana and Henderson both ruled out, Lucas Leiva could get a rare start in midfield alongside Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can against Everton.
