Chelsea Set To Splash £135m As Conte Closes-In On Triple Swoop

Chelsea are ready to splash £135m as Antonio Conte closes-in on a sensational triple swoop for Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea close-in on a triple swoop…

Chelsea are ready to splash £135m as Antonio Conte closes-in on a sensational triple swoop for Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro and Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to a report in the Express.

Conte led Chelsea to the title in his first season in England but he knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if the Blues are to compete in both the Premier League and Champions League next season.

A new central midfielder to play alongside N’Golo Kante appears to be a priority and Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Monaco star Bakayoko in recent weeks.

After lengthy negotiations between the two clubs, the Express claim Chelsea are now on the verge of completing a £35m deal with the 22-year-old due to undergo a medical next week before penning a five-year deal.

Bakayoko caught Conte’s eye after playing a key role in helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title last season but his impending arrival will cast doubt over the future of Nemanja Matic amid reported interest from Man Utd.

Chelsea are also in the market for a new central defender to replace long-serving skipper John Terry and the Express cite a report from The Sun that claims Conte has set his sights on Juventus star Bonucci.

The Italian coach knows the 30-year-old well from their time together in Turin and the newspaper says Juve are ready to do business for the defender at around £45m.

A new left-sided defender to compete with Marcos Alonso is also on the agenda and the Express claim that Chelsea have tabled an improved £55m bid for Sandro after seeing an opening £52m offer rejected.

Juve have made it clear they don’t want to lose the Brazilian international but won’t stand in his way if he makes it clear he wants to leave this summer. Director general Beppe Marotta is quoted by the Express as saying:

“A substantial offer has arrived for Sandro. We have no intention of selling anyone but if a player decides to leave, as has happened in previous years, then at the end of the day he has to go.

“We don’t keep anyone against their will.”

The newspaper says that Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Sandro worth around £160,000-a-week so it looks like the 26-year-old is ready to swap Juventus for west London.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress with these three proposed deals over the coming days but it would obviously be a sensational triple swoop if Chelsea were able to pull it off.
