The father of Divock Origi has confirmed that the out-of-favour Liverpool striker could be set for a late move to Tottenham, according to the Mirror.

Origi has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular under Jurgen Klopp since joining Liverpool from Lille in a £10m deal three years ago.

The 22-year-old has played just nine minutes of football during Liverpool’s opening five games this season with Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and summer signing Dominic Solanke all ahead of him in the pecking order.

It’s led to speculation Origi could make a late move before the transfer window shuts on Thursday night and the Telegraph reported over the weekend that Tottenham were eyeing a swoop for the striker.

It seems a move could now be on the cards as Origi’s father, Mike, has confirmed that the striker needs to leave Liverpool in search of regular football and a move to Tottenham is a possibility.

However, the north London club will face some stiff competition for his signature from unnamed clubs from France and Germany.

Origi’s dad is quoted as saying by the Mirror:

“Divock has to leave Liverpool to get more playing time, Tottenham is a possibility, but there is also interest from France and Germany.”

Tottenham are short of options up front as Vincent Janssen has failed to establish himself following his move last summer and the Dutch international is being tipped for a move before tomorrow night.

That would leave Mauricio Pochettino short of options for behind Harry Kane so Origi would certainly see more game-time at Tottenham than he will if he stays at Liverpool.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Merseysiders will be prepared to do business with a direct rival as I’m sure Jurgen Klopp would prefer to see Origi go abroad if he does leave Anfield.

If Tottenham could secure his signature, the Belgian international would become Pochettino’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Davinson Sanchez and Paulo Gazzangia.
