Arsenal, Liverpool Or Spurs? Chief Claims Midfield Star Has Agreed Move To England
Olivier Bierhoff has claimed Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has already agreed a move to England amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham
The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Leon Goretzka is tipped to move to England…
Germany chief Olivier Bierhoff has claimed Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka has already agreed a move to England amid interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham, according to the Mirror.
Goretzka moved to Schalke from boyhood club Bochum in the summer of 2013 and has developed in to one of the most highly-rated all-round midfielder’s in German football over the past few years.
The 22-year-old has been a key man for Schalke and he’s also now a regular in the German international squad with six goals in his 12 caps so far for the world champions.
However, Goretzka’s long-term future has been in serious doubt for some time as he’s in the final year of his contract and has rebuffed any attempts by Schalke to tie him down to a fresh deal.
Sporting director Christian Heidel recently admitted they are doing all they can to convince Goretzka to remain at the Veltins-Arena but so far he’s failed to commit his future to the club:
Heidel is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“We have made every effort possible, we can not do more.
“We are trying to convince him, also in the economic aspect, we are convinced that we have to look for him to continue without putting pressure on him.”
Goretzka has been linked with a number of clubs all over Europe and the Mirror claim Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have all shown a keen interest in luring him to the Premier League.
It looks like one of the trio may have been successful in signing the midfielder on a free transfer as Bierhoff has let slip that Goretzka has already got a agreement lined-up to move to England.
Speaking ahead of England’s friendly with Germany, Bierhoff is quoted as saying by the Mirror:
“We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané and Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game.
“We have to pay attention and invest again and again in the education of our coaches.”
Bierhoff didn’t disclose any details of the club that Goretzka is supposedly joining but I think he’d be a superb signing for Arsenal, Liverpool or Tottenham if one of the trio have been able to get an agreement reached.
The box-to-box midfielder would offer some stiff competition for Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka at the Emirates while he’d also provide Mauricio Pochettino with another top class option in the middle of the park if he joined Spurs.
Liverpool have already got a deal agreed to sign Naby Keita next summer and he could form a devastating partnership with Goretzka if Jurgen Klopp has managed to convince his compatriot to join him at Anfield.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but it’s safe to say Goretzka will be one of the signings of the summer for whoever ends up buying him at the end of the season.
