Liverpool & Chelsea Ready To Battle Over Deal To Sign Prolific £53m Hitman

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is edging towards the exit door at Borussia Dortmund with Liverpool and Chelsea ready to do-battle over a deal for the £53m hitman

The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool and Chelsea are linked with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is edging towards the exit door at Borussia Dortmund with Liverpool and Chelsea ready to do-battle over a deal for the £53m-rated hitman, according to reports in Germany via the Metro.

Aubameyang had developed in to one of the most prolific strikers in European football during his time at Dortmund since joining the club from Saint-Etienne in 2013.

The 28-year-old has provided 137 goals and 35 assists in 208 appearances so far, including 13 in his 18 games in all competitions this season, while he’s also scored 23 goals in 56 games for Gabon.

However, Aubameyang’s future at the Westfalenstadion is in serious doubt as boss Peter Bosz claimed the striker ‘ruined everything’ during Dortmund’s 4-4 draw with Schalke at the weekend.

Aubameyang was sent off with Dortmund leading 4-2 midway through the second half as Schalke staged a dramatic comeback to earn a 4-4 draw having been trailing 4-0 at half-time.

It was the latest disciplinary issue as the striker was recently suspended after turning up late to training and the Metro are citing reports coming out of Germany that suggest his time at Dortmund is coming to an end.

The newspaper quotes Bild as saying that Aubameyang could leave as early as January with Liverpool and Chelsea believed to be eyeing a swoop for the prolific hitman.

Jurgen Klopp knows Aubameyang well from his time in Germany and the Liverpool boss could view him as a replacement for Daniel Sturridge if the England international forces a move this winter.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also looking to further strengthen his squad as they try to keep pace with Manchester City and Aubameyang would be a top class alternative to Alvaro Morata at Stamford Bridge.

The Metro claim that due to the breakdown in his relationship with Dortmund the Gabon international will be available for around £53m – which would be a relative bargain for a player of his quality in today’s market.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks but I think Aubameyang would be a superb signing for Liverpool or Chelsea if either club was able to get a deal agreed for his signature.
