3-4-2-1: Pochettino To Make 4 Changes | Expected Tottenham XI vs Watford

Tottenham will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

Here is the side we think Mauricio Pochettino will select for the game:

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris is certain to retain his place between the sticks and captain the side so Michel Vorm will remain on the bench.

Defence: Pochettino must continue to make-do without Toby Alderweireld as he’s still recovering from a hamstring injury. The Belgian international isn’t expected back in contention until after Christmas and his absence is certainly being felt by Spurs.

Jan Vertonghen will obviously keep his place in the team while Davinson Sanchez will also continue at the back following a hugely impressive start to life in England while I think we’ll see Eric Dier deployed in a back three.

Danny Rose was recalled in midweek against Leicester but Pochettino is still concerned about his ability to play twice in a matter of days so I expect Ben Davies will return this weekend.

I think Serge Aurier will also drop out with Kieran Tripper being recalled in the right wing-back position.

Midfield: Harry Winks missed the trip to the King Power on Tuesday night due to illness but the midfielder is back in contention so I expect he’ll get an immediate recall in the middle of the park.

Moussa Sissoko is likely to make way while we could see Mousa Dembele also drop to the bench after a run out in midweek leaving a void to be filled in midfield.

Victor Wanyama remains unavailable due to a long-term knee injury so we could see Christian Eriksen deployed in a deeper role. Pochettino has admitted that Eriksen may be mentally jaded but this is a must-win game so I expect the Dane will retain his place.

Attack: If Eriksen plays in midfield then Heung-min Son could get a recall in attack after being named among the substitutes at the King Power on Tuesday night.

Dele Alli wasn’t at his best against Leicester but the England international should still keep his place while Harry Kane will once again lead the line up front after getting himself on the score-sheet against the Foxes.

Erik Lamela made his long-awaited comeback off the bench in midweek so he’ll be hoping to get more minutes under his belt against Watford this weekend.
