Arsenal & Liverpool Ready To Hijack Man Utd’s Move For £35m Star
Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to hijack Manchester United’s attempts to sign £35m-rated Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer
The January transfer window in closed so it’s time to look at those deals that didn’t get over the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, several English clubs are linked with Jean-Michael Seri…
Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to hijack Manchester United’s attempts to sign £35m-rated Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Seri has developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe since joining Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 and he’s now a regular with the Ivory Coast national team.
The 26-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top clubs and is available for just £35m due to a release clause in his contract – which is a relative bargain in today’s market.
The Mirror reported last week that Man Utd had stepped-up their pursuit after opening talks with the midfielders agent about a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho is expected to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick is set to retire while Marouane Fellaini is out-of-contract in June and is no closer to signing an extension.
The United boss has seemingly made Seri one of his prime transfer targets, however, the Red Devils will now face stiff competition as the Mirror are carrying a report from The Sun that claims Arsenal and Liverpool have joined the chase for his signature.
Arsene Wenger is under pressure to revamp his squad following another disappointing season and the Gunners need a new midfielder as Granit Xhaka has failed to live up to expectations, Jack Wilshere is yet to sign a new deal while Aaron Ramsey continues to struggle with injuries.
The report says Arsenal have already enquired about Seri but Liverpool are also ready to step-up their interest after Jurgen Klopp identified the Ivorian as a potential replacement for Emre Can – who’s yet to sign a new deal at Anfield.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Seri would be a superb signing for any of the English trio vying for his signature this summer.
