The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are ready to bid for Jorginho…
Manchester United are ready to steel a march on Liverpool by opening the bidding for Napoli midfielder Jorginho with a £50m offer, according to a report in the Mirror.
Jorginho has developed in to one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A since joining Napoli from Verona in 2014 and he’s also now a regular in the Italian national team squad.
The 26-year-old has been a key part of Mauricio Sarri’s starting eleven this season as they go toe-to-toe with Juventus for the title and his impressive form has attracted interest from several top teams throughout Europe.
Liverpool are among the clubs that have been strongly linked in recent weeks with the Mirror claiming that Jugen Klopp has identified Jorginho as a prime summer transfer target.
The Reds boss is on the look out for a new midfielder as Emre Can is being tipped to join Juventus when his contract expires in June and it looks like Klopp has earmarked Jorginho as the man he wants to partner Naby Keita next season.
However, United have also been credited with an interest in the Napoli star in recent months and it looks like the Red Devils ready to steel a march on their north-west rivals.
The Mirror claims that United are prepared to table an opening bid worth £50m for Jorginho’s signature as Jose Mourinho wants the Italian midfielder to play alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba next year.
Mourinho is expected to sign at least one central midfielder as Michael Carrick is set to retire while Marouane Fellaini is out of contract in June and it seems Jorginho is a key target.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think the Napoli star would be a superb signing for Liverpool or United if either team was able to get a deal agreed.
