Arsenal take on AC Milan in the Europa League at the San Siro this evening. Here is a preview with team news, line-ups and predicted score
Arsenal will look to get back to winning ways when we take on AC Milan in the first leg of our Europa League last-16 clash at the San Siro this evening.
It’s been a nightmare few weeks as we lost the Carabao Cup final and have seen any hopes of finishing in the top four disappear following defeats to Manchester City and Brighton.
With fourth-placed Tottenham now 13 points ahead with just 9 games remaining our only chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season is to win the Europa League.
Unfortunately we’ve been drawn to face European giants AC Milan and head to the San Siro this evening [6pm kick off] off the back of four consecutive defeats in all competitions so Arsene Wenger is under intense pressure to get a positive result.
We’ll face a Milan side who have been rejuvenated since the arrival of Gennaro Gattuso as manager and the Rossoneri have won six of their last seven Serie A games so it’s not exactly the best time to face them.
Team news
Hector Bellerin has been ruled out of the game for Arsenal after suffering a knee injury so Calum Chambers is expected to continue at right-back this evening.
Nacho Monreal is also still back in north London recovering from a back injury so Sead Kolasinac will start on the left side of defence with David Ospina set to return in goal.
Alexandre Lacazette is still out following knee surgery last month while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is cup tied so Danny Welbeck will lead the line up front.
Milan will be without Andrea Conti and Luca Antonelli due to injury while Ignazio Abate is a serious doubt.
Expected line-ups
Predicted score
Milan 1-1 Arsenal: Obviously we’re in total disarray right now but hopefully a big game against a European heavy-weight is what the players need to get them back on track. The boys are under pressure to perform and usually we respond when our backs are against the wall.
Milan aren’t the side they used to be and if we match their desire and attitude, we should have the quality to get a result this evening. The hosts don’t score many goals as they’ve scored just 37 in their 26 Serie A games so hopefully we shouldn’t ship too many tonight. I don’t think we’ll see a classic performance from Arsenal but I’m backing us to get a 1-1 draw – which would be a useful result given the circumstances.
