Manchester United are ready to battle-it-out with Chelsea over the signing of Napoli midfielder Jorginho this summer, according to the Mirror.
Jorginho joined Napoli from Verona in 2014 and has been one of the best central midfielders in Serie A over the past few years while he’s also now a regular in the Italian national squad.
The 26-year-old has been an integral part of Mauricio Sarri’s starting eleven this season as the Naples club go toe-to-toe with Juventus for the Serie A title.
The Brazilian-born midfielder’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror citing reports from Calcionews24 that claims Man Utd and Chelsea are ready to battle-it-out over his signature.
Jose Mourinho is expected to sign at least one central midfielder this summer as Michael Carrick will retire in June while Marouane Fellaini is yet to agree terms over a new deal and Jorginho is seemingly on his radar.
However, Chelsea are also tipped to sign another midfielder as Tiemoue Bakayoko has struggled to adapt to life in England following his move from Monaco last summer and the Blues are also tracking Jorginho.
Napoli will no doubt be keen to keep hold of the South American maestro for at least another season and TeamTalk claim they want at least £50m for his signature this summer.

United and Chelsea could afford that sort of money so it will be interesting to see how Napoli respond if the duo test their resolve with formal offers over the coming months but I think Jorginho would be a superb signing if either club could get a deal agreed.
