Arsenal and Liverpool are showing a keen interest in signing Kerem Demirbay with the Hoffenheim midfielder expected to be available for £20m this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
Demirbay has developed in to one of the most highly-rated midfield players in the Bundesliga since joining Hoffenheim from Hamburger SV in the summer of 2016.
The 24-year-old is now a regular in Julian Nagelsmann’s starting eleven after enjoying a superb breakthrough campaign in 2016/17 while he’s also earned his first caps for the German national team.
The deep-lying midfielder has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as the Evening Standard claim that Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to battle it out over his signature this summer.
Arsene Wenger is expected to be in the market for another midfielder as Jack Wilshere is yet to sign a new contract while Santi Cazorla’s career is in jeopardy due to a long-term injury that’s hampered him for the last two seasons.
Aaron Ramsey’s long-term future at the Emirates is also in doubt so the Gunners are eyeing a move for Demirbay after he was recommended by new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat.
However, the north Londoners could face stiff competition from Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp is also on the look out for midfield reinforcements with Emre Can tipped to leave when his contract expires in June.
Demirbay is still under contract until 2021 but the newspaper suggests that Hoffenheim could cash-in for £20m this summer in order to help fund a squad overhaul following a disappointing campaign.

That sort of money shouldn’t deter the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool and I think Demirbay would prove to be an excellent purchase if either club was able to lure him to England this summer.
