The transfer window is closed but managers are working hard on their plans for the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal join the race to sign Wilfred Ndidi….
Arsenal are looking to hijack Liverpool’s attempts to sign Wilfred Ndidi after opening talks with the Leicester City midfielders agent to discuss a move to the Emirates, according to a report in the Mirror.
Ndidi has proven to be a superb signing for the Foxes since arriving from Genk in January 2017 with the tough-tackling midfielder starting in all 31 of their Premier League games so far this campaign.
The Nigerian international is also a regular with his country having earned 14 caps so far and it seems he’s caught the attention of clubs in the upper echelons of the Premier League.
TeamTalk reported late last month that Liverpool were in pole position to sign Ndidi after agreeing personal terms with the midfielder ahead of a potential move to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a placement for Emre Can as the German international is being tipped to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in June and Ndidi is seemingly a prime target.
However, it looks like Liverpool will face some serious competition as the Mirror are citing reports from the Sun that claim Arsenal have now joined the chase to sign Ndidi this summer.
The newspaper carries quotes from an unnamed source close to the player who claims the Gunners have now made contact with Ndidi’s agent to discuss a possible move to north London.
“There has been so much interest in him. He is going to be a top player and Arsenal have been in contact,” a source close to Ndidi told The Sun .
“They want to sign him this summer.
“Arsene Wenger is a manager he admires a lot and his friend Alex Iwobi has told him lots of great things about the club.”
Arsene Wenger is on the look out for midfield reinforcements as Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are yet to sign new contracts while Santi Cazorla’s career is in doubt due to a long-term Achilles injury.
Ndidi could provide some much-needed protection in front of the back four if he was to join Arsenal, however, they will need to dig deep as the Mirror suggest Leicester will want around £50m for his signature.

Arsenal and Liverpool have the financial resources to pay that kind of money but it remains to be seen whether either club will agree to meet Leicester’s demands for Ndidi this summer.
