Tottenham take on Watford at Wembley Stadium this evening. Here is a preview with the latest team news, line-ups and prediction
Tottenham will be looking to cement their position in the top four when they take on Watford at Wembley this evening.
Spurs will end the season without a trophy yet again after being dumped out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage by Manchester United last weekend.
The north Londoners must get over the disappointment quickly as they suddenly find themselves in a battle for the top four with Chelsea now just two points behind in fifth.
Tottenham do hold a game in hand so they can extend their advantage to five points with a win this evening but if they slip up then the race for Champions League qualification is well and truly on.
Watford head to Wembley sitting 13th in the table on 38 points and although they aren’t yet mathematically safe after Southampton closed the gap to six points at the weekend, it would still take a minor miracle for the Hornets to go down this season.
Team News
Danny Rose returned to training on Friday following a calf injury but Harry Winks is still nursing an ankle problem. Hugo Lloris will return in goal after Michel Vorm played in the FA Cup last weekend.
Watford have a number of injury problems with Younes Kaboul, Tom Cleverley and Stefano Okaka all out but Nathan Chalobah and Roberto Pereyra are back in training.
Betting Tips
The bookmakers make Spurs the 1/6 favourites to win this game so we need to find some value to make a bet worthwhile. You could take advantage of the Matchbook bonus code available to new customers while many bookies are offering enhanced odds for this game. My prediction of 2-0 is available at 11/2 and if we throw in Harry Kane as first goalscorer in a 2-0 Tottenham victory then we get tempting odds of 7/1.
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-0 Watford: Spurs are unbeaten in their last 12 meetings with Watford in all competitions and have won each of their last seven home matches against the Hornets. I can’t see this record being under threat tonight as the visitors have very little left to play for so I’m predicting a routine home win.
