Arsenal & Chelsea Lead Race To Sign £35m International Star
Arsenal and Chelsea are leading the race to sign Nice’s £35m-rated midfielder Jean-Michael Seri but will now face competition from Napoli
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jean-Michael Seri…
Arsenal and Chelsea are leading the race to sign Nice’s £35m-rated midfielder Jean-Michael Seri but will now face competition from Napoli, according to reports in Italy via the Mirror.
Seri joined Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 and has developed in to one of the best all-round midfielders in Ligue 1 while he’s also now a regular with the Ivory Coast national team.
The 26-year-old’s impressive form has caught the attention of several top European clubs with the Mirror naming Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund as potential suitors while Napoli have also recently joined the chase.
However, the newspaper suggests that Arsenal and Chelsea are the front-runners for Seri’s signature with the duo ready to meet his £35m release clause if the midfielder opts for a move to England.
Arsenal are in the market for a new central midfielder as Santi Cazorla has left the club while Jack Wilshere’s future is in serious doubt as his contract expires next month and he’s yet to agree terms over a new deal.
Chelsea are also expected to strengthen their options in the middle of the park as Danny Drinkwater is set to leave after failing to make an impression in West London while Tiemoue Bakayoko has also underwhelmed since arriving in a big-money deal from Monaco.
Seri would be an excellent signing for either of the London duo and his release clause of £35m is a very reasonable price for a player of his quality in today’s over-inflated market.

However, no deal appears to be imminent so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Seri would be a superb addition for Arsenal or Chelsea if they could win the race for his signature.
