Arsenal are ready to steal a march on Liverpool by tabling a formal £50m bid to sign RB Leipzig attacker Emil Forsberg this summer
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are set to bid for Emil Forsberg…
Arsenal are ready to steal a march on Liverpool by tabling a formal £50m bid to sign RB Leipzig attacker Emil Forsberg this summer, according to reports in Sweden via TeamTalk.
Forsberg has developed in to one of the best wingers in the Bundesliga since joining Leipzig from Malmo in January 2015 with the attacker providing 21 goals and 37 assists over the past two-and-a-half years.
That impressive form has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim that Arsenal and Liverpool have expressed their interest in signing Forsberg this summer.
Jurgen Klopp has one of the best attacks in world football at his disposal but he knows he needs to add depth to ease the pressure on the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and it seems Forsberg is on Liverpool’s radar.
However, the Sun reported recently that Arsenal have held talks with Leipzig and the players representatives about signing the 27-year-old and it looks like they are ready to formalise their interest.
TeamTalk are citing a report from Expressen that claims Arsenal are set to table a £50m offer for Forsberg over the coming days as Unai Emery tries to reshape the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger.
The Spanish coach took over the reigns at the Emirates last week and he’s wasted no time in trying to strengthen his ranks with Forsberg one of several names strongly linked with the Gunners in recent days.
Leipzig are keen to keep hold of him and there have been rumours of a new contract offer being put forward by the Germans but they may be tempted to cash-in if Arsenal do submit a £50m offer.
Forsberg hinted he was ready to look for a new challenge after being sent off during the closing stages of last season so he may be open to the idea of testing himself in the Premier League.
