Breakthrough: Man Utd Agree £19m Deal, Player Set To Undergo Medical This Week
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth around £19m to sign Diogo Dalot and the Porto defender will undergo his medical later this week
The summer transfer window is now open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Diogo Dalot’s move to Man Utd…
Manchester United have agreed a deal worth around £19m to sign Diogo Dalot and the Porto defender will undergo his medical later this week, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Jose Mourinho is keen to strengthen his defence this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging Manchester City for the title and a new right-back is a priority.
Matteo Darmian looks set for a move back to Italy after failing to establish himself while Antonio Valencia turns 33 in August so a long-term replacement for the Ecuadorian international is needed.
Dalot emerged as a surprise target last week when the Telegraph reported that United had identified the youngster as a prime target and were ready to meet his £17.5m release clause.
However, the M.E.N claim United have been forced to pay over the odds to secure Dalot’s signature as they were facing competition from up to eight other top European clubs who were also willing to pay his release fee – which becomes active on June 30th.
The newspaper says United have now had an offer accepted following a breakthrough in negotiations over the weekend with the Red Devils set to pay in the region of £19m to secure the teenager’s signature early ahead of their rivals.
The M.E.N claims that the 19-year-old is currently in London visiting family but is due to undergo his medical at United’s Carrington training base later this week and complete his move.
Dalot has been with Porto his entire career having progressed through their youth ranks and broke in to the first team last season while he’s also represented Portugal at every youth level from U15 to U21.

The youngster is still inexperienced so if he does complete his proposed move to United then I think he’ll learn the ropes from Valencia next season before aiming to take the first team jersey in the 2019/20 campaign.
