Man Utd Or Chelsea Could Sign Prolific 41-Goal Striker In £70m Deal
Manchester United or Chelsea could sign Robert Lewandowski for £70m this summer but the Bayern Munich hitman is demanding a huge contract
There is plenty of Manchester United and Chelsea gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. Today, the latest on Robert Lewandowski…
Manchester United or Chelsea could sign Robert Lewandowski for £70m this summer but the Bayern Munich hitman is demanding a huge contract, according to various reports.
Lewandowski has been one of the most prolific strikers in the world over the past few years and he netted 41 goals in 48 appearances for Bayern last season to help fire them to yet another Bundesliga title and take his career tally to 151 goals in 195 games since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
However, the Polish international’s future at the Allianz Arena is in serious doubt as he’s expressed a desire for a new challenge this summer after hiring super agent Pini Zahavi as his new representative to secure a big-money move.
The situation has alerted clubs here in the Premier League as Sky Germany, via TeamTalk, claim Manchester United and Chelsea are among those to have expressed their interest after Lewandowski made it clear he wants to leave Bayern.
United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted his frustration with the clubs lack of transfer activity this summer with Brazilian midfielder Fred the only new arrival expected to be a first team regular this season.
Mourinho was overly-reliant on Romelu Lukaku up front last campaign so with Zlatan Ibrahimovic off to the MLS, United could be in the market for another striker and it appears they’re eyeing a stunning swoop for Lewandowski.
Chelsea are also being tipped to reshuffle their attacking options following the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as manager this summer and Lewandowski could be viewed as a replacement for Alvaro Morata amid speculation surrounding his future.
The Daily Star cite reports coming out of Germany that suggest Bayern will reluctantly let the 29-year-old leave if an offer of around £70m was put on the table and obviously both United and Chelsea have the funds to meet that asking price.
However, a deal still won’t be straightforward as the newspaper says Lewandowski is demanding a huge pay-rise on his current £300,000-a-week contract if he’s to make a move this summer.
United pay Alexis Sanchez around £500,000-a-week and the Daily Star says Lewandowski’s camp have made it clear they’d expect similar money if the striker was to move to Old Trafford.

We’ll have to wait and see whether United or Chelsea will be prepared to offer that kind of contract to the Polish hitman but I think he’d be a superb signing if either club was able to get a deal agreed for his signature.
