Liverpool Eyeing Audacious Swoop To Sign £40m-Rated Arsenal Star
Liverpool are eyeing an audacious move to sign Aaron Ramsey as the £40m-rated midfielder’s contract stand-off with Arsenal continues
The summer transfer window is drawing to a close and managers are working hard to secure last minute deals so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey….
Liverpool are eyeing an audacious move to sign Aaron Ramsey as the £40m-rated midfielder’s contract stand-off with Arsenal continues, according to the Express.
Ramsey’s long-term future at the Emirates is in serious doubt as he has just one year remaining on his contract and is yet to agree terms over an extension despite his representatives holding lengthy talks with the north Londoners over the past few weeks.
The 27-year-old has been one of Arsenal’s key player in recent years and has provided 59 goals and 57 assists in his 331 appearances since joining from boyhood club Cardiff City 10 years ago to help the Gunners win 3 FA Cup’s.
Unai Emery is desperate to tie him down to a new long-term deal but there are reports suggesting Arsenal chiefs will cash-in if Ramsey doesn’t commit himself before the transfer window closes as they don’t want a repeat of last years fiasco with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The situation appears to have alerted Liverpool as the Express quote transfer expert Ian McGarry as saying that the Merseysiders are interested in signing Ramsey and he suggests the Arsenal star would be valued up to £40m if he was to move over the coming week.
However, Jurgen Klopp has already splashed out on Naby Keita and Fabinho this summer so it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be prepared to spend big on the Welsh international or prefer to wait to secure a potential free transfer in 12 months time.
Ramsey has also been linked with several European clubs and McGarry believes the midfielder would be open to the idea of playing abroad so Liverpool would face stiff competition for his signature.
McGarry is quoted by the Express as saying:
“There’s a little bit of interest from Liverpool, I understand. I think there’s no vacancy at Liverpool right now following the arrival of Fabinho and Naby Keita but Ramsey would certainly be a very good addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad as a creative box-to-box midfielder. So, Ramsey is taking time and quite rightly to weigh up his options.
“I don’t think he’s particularly worried about moving (by the deadline) because as of January he can sign a pre-contract with any club outside of England as Emre Can did with Juventus and move next summer for free when the fee that would be demanded for him now – £35m to £40m – would be paid to him in wages as a signing on fee.
“To me, Ramsey is again one of the few candidates of British players who would happily go abroad and ply his trade and learn the language and fit in and be a success. So his options are not purely limited to the Premier League.”
It’s going to be interesting to see how things progress over the coming days as it would be a big risk for Arsenal to let Ramsey head in to the new season without signing an extension.

Liverpool appear to be interested but a free transfer move next summer would probably be more appealing to them so I’d be shocked if Ramsey ended up moving to Anfield before the window shuts on August 9th.
