Manchester City began their title defence in perfect fashion as they eased to an impressive 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates this afternoon.
Arsenal started reasonably well but City soon took over and took a deserved lead in the 14th minute when Raheem Sterling drifted across the 18 yard box unchallenged before rifling home for 0-1.
City dominated the majority of the first period but couldn’t find another goal and the Gunners improved after the break when Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench.
However, just as the hosts were getting a foothold in the game, City made it 2-0 as Bernado Silva fired home unmarked from a Benjamin Mendy cut back in the 64th minute.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil both saw goals correctly ruled out for offside during the final stages of the game as City eased to an impressive 2-0 win to get their title defence off to the perfect start.
