Here is our match preview ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Brighton including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score
Liverpool will look to build on their impressive start to the season when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have so far lived-up to their pre-season billing as being Manchester City’s closest challengers for the title this season after taking maximum points from their two games.
The Reds thrashed West Ham on the opening weekend before easing to victory at Crystal Palace on Monday night so Liverpool will be hoping to make it three wins from three games tomorrow.
However, Brighton head to Anfield in confident mood after beating Manchester United 3-2 last weekend and manager Chris Hughton will be desperate to come away with another positive result from Merseyside.
Team news
Liverpool have no fresh injuries to contend with but Dejan Lovren remains out with a pelvic injury that’s expected to keep him on the sidelines until after the international break next month.
Klopp has named an unchanged line-up for the first two games and he may be tempted to stick with the same eleven again but he did hint at at his press conference that he might make some changes as he looks to use the full depth of his squad.
Fabinho could therefore make his full debut and Jordan Henderson is also pushing for a recall but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains unavailable with a serious knee injury.
As for Brighton, they’re expected to be without Lewis Dunk after he suffered an ankle injury against Man Utd while Bruno, Jose Izquierdo and Florin Andone remain on the sidelines.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Liverpool 3-0 Brighton: Obviously Brighton had a terrific result against United but this is going to be a much stiffer test away to a rampant Liverpool side. The Reds have won the last five meetings between the two sides and are unbeaten in their last 22 matches at Anfield so it’s hard to see past a routine home win.
Betting Tips
Liverpool are the 1/6 favourites with the bookmakers to win so we’ll need to find more value elsewhere. I like ‘both teams to score NO’ at 8/13 while our predicted score of 3-0 is on offer at 7/1. If we add Roberto Firmino as first goalscorer in a 3-0 win we get very tempting odds of 18/1.
