Unai Emery secured his first win as Arsenal manager as the Gunners came from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 at the Emirates this afternoon.
The Hammers started brightly and took the lead midway through the first half when Felipe Anderson was allowed to drive through midfield far too easily before teeing-up Arnoutovic who found the bottom corner with a low drive from the edge of the area.
Arsenal responded immediately and made it 1-1 in the 30th minute when Hector Bellerin’s cross found its way to Nacho Monreal who calmly took a touch before firing in the equaliser at the far post.
It was a relatively even game with both sides making chances but it was Arsenal who grabbed the lead in fortuitous circumstances as Alexandre Lacazette’s pass ended up in the back of the net off West Ham defender Issa Diop in the 70th minute.
The visitors continued to push for an equaliser during the closing stages of the game but Danny Welbeck came off the bench to settled things with a close-range finish after being set-up by Hector Bellerin in stoppage time.
Arsenal won the game 3-1 to hand Emery his first victory as manager following consecutive defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea since taking over in the summer.
