Chelsea vs Cardiff Preview | Team News | Expected Line-Ups | Predicted Score
Here is our match preview ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Cardiff City including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score
Chelsea will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the new season when they take on Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Maurizio Sarri has enjoyed an excellent start to life in the Premier League as the Blues sit joint top of the table on 12 points having registered victories over Huddersfield, Arsenal, Newcastle and Bournemouth so far.
The Blues have been playing some great football this season and with top-of-the-table Liverpool travelling to Tottenham this weekend, Chelsea have a great chance to leapfrog the Merseysiders with a fifth consecutive victory tomorrow.
Cardiff arrive in the capital having picked up just two points from their first four games back in the top flight following their promotion last season so they desperately need to take home a positive result from west London this weekend.
Team news
Chelsea could welcome Cesc Fabregas back in to the squad after he recovered from a knee injury that’s hampered him since the Community Shield but a place on the bench is the best he can hope for as he’s not deemed fit to start just yet.
Emerson Palmieri and Davide Zappacosta are major doubts for the game tomorrow after being struck down with a virus while Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also miss out after picking up a knock while away with England this week.
Cardiff are able to call upon Josh Murphy again after he recovered from a hamstring injury while Aron Gunnarsson is also back from a knee complaint but Nathaniel Mendez-Laing is still working his way back from a knee injury.
Expected Line-ups
Predicted Score
Chelsea 3-0 Cardiff: The Blues have only lost one league game against Cardiff in the last 55 years and that came way back in 1981 so they’ll be confident of beating the Bluebirds this weekend. Sarri has his side playing some wonderful stuff and I just can’t see Cardiff seeing enough of the ball to hurt the hosts. If Eden Hazard is on form I can see Chelsea easing to a comfortable home win.
