4-3-3: Klopp To Make 2 Key Changes | Expected Liverpool Line-Up vs Southampton

Liverpool will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the new season when they welcome Southampton to Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Here is the team we think Jurgen Klopp will select:

Goalkeeper: Alisson has proven to be an excellent signing for Liverpool since arriving from Roma in the summer and no doubt the Brazilian international will continue in goal this weekend.

Defence: Klopp has suggested he’s ready to rotate his squad over the coming weeks but I still don’t see a need for him to change things at the back just yet as he’s more likely to wait for the League Cup game in midweek.

Joel Matip, Alberto Moreno and Nathaniel Clyne are all pushing for recalls but I think Klopp will stick with his preferred back four of Trent Alexandre-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson against Southampton.

Midfield: However, there should be at least one change in midfield with Naby Keita expected to be recalled after being benched for the thrilling Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

Jordan Henderson is the man most likely to make way as James Milner was once again excellent against PSG. Fabinho made his debut with a late appearance off the bench on Tuesday night and he’ll be hoping to make his full debut soon but Georginio Wijnaldum is expected to retain his place tomorrow afternoon.

Attack: The spotlight was on Mohamed Salah in midweek as he was well below his best and gave away the ball in the build-up to PSG’s equaliser which would have cost them two valuable points if it wasn’t for Roberto Firmino’s stoppage time winner.

The Egyptian international looks like he could do with a rest but I think Salah will still start against Southampton with Klopp then giving him a breather in the cup game with Chelsea next week.

Xhedran Shaqiri is pushing to start but Sadio Mane should keep his place on the left side of the attack while Firmino is set to be recalled up front after not being risked from the start against PSG due to an eye injury that he sustained against Tottenham.

Daniel Sturridge put in a good display that saw him open the scoring with a close range header but Firmino is a class above and proved it with a superb late winner so I think Klopp will recall him tomorrow.

Here is how I think Liverpool will line up:
