Mesut Ozil was among the goals as Arsenal left it late to see-off Watford 2-0 at the Emirates this afternoon and extend our winning run to five games in the Premier League.
Alexandre Lacazette wasted the first big chance of the game as he chipped wide of the post when clean through on goal while Watford were also causing some problems of their own at the other end but the game remained goalless at half-time.
The visitors continued to create after the break as Arsenal struggled to get going but the introductions of Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck midway through the second half changed the game in our favour.
Iwobi created the opening goal as his cross was put through his own net by Watford defender Craig Cathcart while under pressure from Lacazette in the 80th minute.
Arsenal doubled their lead just a few minutes later as Welbeck robbed possession in midfield and the move led to Lacazette crossing for Ozil to sweep home from 8 yards to make it 2-0 and secure another vital three points.
The win means Arsenal have now won our last five league games and seven in all competitions while he now sit level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham – who have a superior goal difference.
