Arsenal are set to receive a double injury blow with Sokratis and Petr Cech failing to train on Sunday ahead of Monday night’s visit of Leicester City to the Emirates.

Sokratis was forced off at half time during Greece’s 2-1 defeat to Finland during the recent international break after suffering an ankle injury during the opening forty-five minutes and Unai Emery admitted last week that the defender was a doubt for Leicester game.

The boss suggested at his pre-match press conference last week that Sokratis would be monitored in the days leading up to the game but it looks like the Greek star will miss out as he wasn’t among the players photographed in training at London Colney on Sunday afternoon.

Sokratis is likely to be given more time to overcome his ankle problem and it remains to be seen whether he will recover in time for the Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.

His absence tomorrow will be a big blow as Sokratis has been an excellent addition to the team since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer but it looks like Rob Holding will continue alongside Shkodran Mustafi against Leicester.

In a double blow, Cech was also not able to take part in training in north London this afternoon so the goalkeeper is set to miss out tomorrow night with Bernd Leno continuing between the sticks.

Cech has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury against Watford at the end of September and the 36-year-old will now be hoping to make his comeback against Lisbon next week.

Elsewhere, Laurent Koscielny continued to step-up his recovery from Achilles surgery as he took part in some aspects of full training today but the centre-back isn’t expected to be available until November.

Otherwise, Emery has a strong squad to choose from as Danny Welbeck is available after recovering from a knock while Mesut Ozil is in contention having overcome a back injury that kept him out of the Fulham game two weeks ago.
