Man Utd Boss Makes 23-Year-Old Serie A Star His Top January Transfer Target

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Milan Skiniar this winter but Manchester United bosses could once again frustrate his transfer plans

The transfer window is closed but managers are planning ahead for January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip. Today, Jose Mourinho wants Milan Skriniar…

Jose Mourinho is eyeing a move for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skiniar this winter but Manchester United bosses could once again frustrate his transfer plans, according to reports via the Express.

Mourinho was left hugely disappointed after executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward failed to land any of his key defensive transfer targets during the summer window when the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jerome Boateng and Harry Maguire were all strong linked.

The lack of improvement at the back has cost United dearly as they’ve endured one of their worst starts to a Premier League season having conceded 21 goals in 12 games to leave the Manchester giants languishing way down in eighth place in the table – 12 points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof have been Mourinho’s first choice pairing so far this campaign but with the likes of Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo being linked with moves away from Old Trafford this winter, it seems Mourinho is once again on the look out for a new central defender.

The Express claim Mourinho has now identified his preferred target with the newspaper citing the Independent as saying the United boss has set his sights on signing Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar in January.

The 23-year-old has developed in to one of the best centre-backs in Italian football since joining Milan in 2017 and he’s been virtually ever present in Luciano Spalletti’s starting eleven this season as they look to challenge for the Serie A title.

Skriniar is also a regular with the Slovakian national team and would be a superb signing if Mourinho could pull it off, however, the Portuguese coach could be set for disappointment once again.

No plans to strengthen defence

Despite Mourinho’s desire to bring in another centre-back this winter, the report claims United bosses are not actively looking to strengthen their defence during the January transfer window.

If true, this is sure to rile Mourinho even further and will be another slap in the face after United chiefs failed to back him in the summer. That led to question marks over his future at Old Trafford and those rumours will continue to grow if United don’t support their manager with new signings in January.
