Arsenal Team News: Gunners Handed Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Tottenham Clash

Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the North London Derby with a key man passed fit to take on Tottenham on Sunday.

Alexandre Lacazette Arsenal

Arsenal will look to climb back in to the top four with a win when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners have been handed a major injury boost ahead of the game as Football London claim that Alexandre Lacazette is expected to be passed fit to return to the squad tomorrow after recovering from a groin injury.

Lacazette was forced to pull out of the France squad during the November international break after picking up the issue and missed Arsenal’s Premier League win over Bournemouth at Dean Court last weekend.

The 27-year-old returned to training in the middle of last week but wasn’t risked for the long-haul trip to the Ukraine for Arsenal’s 3-0 win over FC Vorskla in the group stages of the Europa League.

However, Football London reports that Lacazette is set to return to action on Sunday after overcoming his groin injury and the Frenchman’s availability will come as a huge boost as he’s been a key player for the Gunners this season.

Unai Emery will make wholesale changes to his starting eleven after resting his big guns for the Vorskla game in midweek with the likes of Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Hector Bellerin, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all set to return.

Mesut Ozil also didn’t make the trip to the Ukraine on Thursday night but it will be interesting to see if the German international is recalled to the starting eleven against Spurs having been left on the bench at Bournemouth last weekend.

Laurent Koscielny made his long-awaited comeback with a run out for the Arsenal U23’s last week but the Frenchman is highly unlikely to play any part against Tottenham as he’s still lacking match fitness following over six months out with an Achilles injury.

Nacho Monreal will also still be on the sidelines as the left-back is nursing a hamstring injury while Danny Welbeck is facing an extended spell out having undergone surgery on a broken ankle last month.
