Tottenham Hotspur will be on a high following their Champions League heroics when they welcome Burnley to Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Spurs issued a team news and injury update this afternoon which confirmed that Victor Wanyama remains out with a knee injury that’s hampered him in recent weeks while Mousa Dembele has stepped-up his rehabilitation from an ankle injury by returning to light training.

The clubs update on social media said that Serge Aurier was back on the training field as he looks to return from a groin injury while Kieran Trippier was still working his way back to full fitness from his own groin complaint that hampered him in recent weeks.

Davinson Sanchez has been on the sidelines since suffering a hamstring injury in early November while Juan Foyth has missed the last few games with his own hamstring problem and the duo are close to making their return to action.

It was initially thought that all the injured players would remain on the sidelines for the visit of Burnley but Mauricio Pochettino later told reporters at his pre-match press conference that four of his casualty list could yet be passed fit.

Pochettino claims that Aurier, Trippier, Foyth and Sanchez will all be assessed by the Tottenham medical team over the next 48 hours and have a chance of being in contention to take on Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

We’ll have to wait and see if any of the quartet are passed fit but it would be a welcome boost for Spurs, especially if Aurier or Trippier could return as Poch was forced to play youngster Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back against Barcelona in midweek.

Tottenham are unlikely to take too many risks with Foyth or Sanchez as Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are fit to start this weekend but it looks like the North Londoners’ injury list will ease significantly over the coming days.
