There Are Only One ‘Invincibles’…
It was the 2003-2004 season when a team went undefeated through-out the entire season. Yes ! it was Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal Team which were invincible through-out that season and hence we were given the title ‘The invincibles’.
38 played, 0 losses
United fans thought they were going to do the same thing, and yes, they did show character on many occasions this season. Some would say – “The Mark of Champions.” But to be invincible character is not enough. You need to be consistent and you need to feel invincible from your heart. That is what you require, and that is what we had 7 years ago.
Looking back you have to say that we were irresistible that season.
We felt unbeatable and the prove is that we were unbeaten for the first 49 games of that season. We were on such a remarkable run of form that we were unbeatable. For me, that was my best season at Arsenal.
We know that one day that record will be beaten. And that’s fine, because that’s the way things are in sport. But, looking back to that season, there were times in the dressing room and in the tunnel before games where there were such a strength between the players.
We only had to look at each other and we knew we’re going to win today. The fact that nobody beat us became a motivating force for us because the longer the run went on, the more teams wanted to beat us.
The more we won, the stronger we became and the stronger you are, the better you get.
Manchester United lost their invincible status on Saturday when they made a trip to Molinuex and were beaten 2-1. 29 games, 1 loss. Lastly, on retrospection, Saturday’s ridiculous Arsenal performance in the 2nd half helped us gain a point on United. The title race is still on…but a win would have done us much better.
Guns-out,
