Man Utd Team News: Solskjaer Could Be Without 4 Players For Huddersfield Clash
Here is the latest Manchester United team news ahead of their clash with Huddersfield and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be without four players.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look to build on a dream start when Manchester United take on Huddersfield at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
Solskjaer enjoyed the perfect start to life as caretaker manager after guiding United to a hugely impressive 5-1 victory over Cardiff City at the weekend having replaced Jose Mourinho last week.
The former Norwegian hitman recalled Paul Pogba to the starting eleven while Marcus Rashford played through the middle and they repaid their new boss with superb performances as United ripped Cardiff apart with some wonderful football.
Solskjaer is expected to freshen things up for the visit of Huddersfield on Boxing Day after promising to give every player a chance to prove themselves so the likes of Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini, Fred, Eric Bailly and Diogo Dalot could be in-line for recalls on Wednesday afternoon.
United didn’t suffer any fresh injuries at Cardiff, however, it remains to be seen whether Romelu Lukaku will feature after the Belgian international missed the win in Wales having been granted compassionate leave last week.
Chris Smalling also missed the game on Saturday evening after aggravating a foot injury last week while Scott McTominay is also carrying a knock so they remain doubts for the Huddersfield game.
Alexis Sanchez is back in Manchester continuing his rehabilitation from a torn hamstring injury but the Chilean international won’t be available until after the New Year so Solskjaer could be without four players on Boxing Day.
United head in to the festive fixtures sitting sixth in the Premier League table – eight points off the top four – so the Manchester giants desperately need to pick up another win over Huddersfield to keep alive hopes of finishing in the Champions League places.
