Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview | Latest Team News | Expected Line-Ups | Prediction

This is our match preview ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Arsenal including team news, expected line-ups and predicted score

Liverpool will look to tighten their grip at the top of the table with a win when they take on Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Merseysiders continued their superb form by thrashing Newcastle United 4-0 at Anfield on Boxing Day to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign with 16 wins and 3 draws so far. With Manchester City dropping to third and seven points adrift following their shock defeat to Leicester City, Liverpool head in to the weekend action sitting six points clear of second-placed Tottenham. Jurgen Klopp’s men can at least maintain that advantage by collecting all three points tomorrow ahead of the crucial trip to City next week but the Liverpool boss is taking nothing for granted against a dangerous Arsenal side.

Unai Emery enjoyed a positive start to life at the Emirates but he’s under pressure to get their season back on tracking following a couple of disappointing results against Southampton and Brighton in recent weeks. Arsenal currently sit fifth in the table – just two points behind Chelsea – so the north Londoners will be desperate to come away with a positive result from Anfield to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Betting

Liverpool are the 4/9 favourites with the bookmakers to win the game while Arsenal are available at 7/1 with the draw at 4/1. By taking advantage of the best betting offers uk you could boost those odds further but it’s important to get some decent value in these games. Liverpool to win and over 2.5 match goals at odds of 4/5 looks like an excellent bet while backing Sadio Mane to score first in a 3-1 Liverpool win is available at a tempting 49/1.

Team news

Liverpool will be without James Milner as he’s still nursing a hamstring injury that kept him out of the Newcastle game while Dominic Solanke has joined Joe Gomez and Joel Matip on the sidelines.

Alberto Moreno is available after recovering from a knock and while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has stepped up his recovery from a knee ligament injury this week, the midfielder isn’t expected back until March.

Arsenal have been boosted by the return to full training of Shkodran Mustafi so he could be recalled after overcoming a hamstring injury but Rob Holding, Danny Welbeck, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hector Bellerin remain out.

Nacho Monreal is also a major doubt after missing the Brighton game in midweek with a tight hamstring injury but Aaron Ramsey is pushing for a recall.

Predicted Score

Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal: Arsenal haven’t won any of their last five trips to Anfield and have conceded at least two goals in each of those games. Liverpool are also unbeaten in their last 30 home league games so I can’t see the Merseysiders losing this one. Klopp’s side are flying and look devastating going forward while Arsenal’s defence has been woeful recently. Liverpool have also been rock solid in defence so I can’t see past a home win tomorrow.
