Arsenal to hold talks with euro giants on Monday to thrash out deal for £18m star
Arsenal will hold talks with Barcelona on Monday to try and thrash out an initial loan deal to sign Denis Suarez this month, according to reports
The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, the latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Denis Suarez…
Arsenal will hold talks with Barcelona on Monday to try and finally thrash out an initial loan deal to sign Denis Suarez this month, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.
Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks after deciding to seek a new challenge away from the Nou Camp having fallen out-of-favour under Ernesto Valverde this season.
The 25-year-old has managed to play just 8 minutes of league football so far this campaign and Arsenal have reportedly offered Suarez a fresh start here in the Premier League under Unai Emery – who he worked with during a loan spell at Sevilla.
The Mirror are citing a report from Mundo Deportivo that claims Suarez is keen to make a move to the Emirates this month as he enjoyed working with Emery in Spain and thinks Arsenal’s style of play would suit him.
Arsenal have been struggling to get a deal in place with Barca as the Spaniard’s are keen to secure either a permanent deal now or a loan with a guarantee that we’ll make the move permanent in the summer. Such a deal would cost Arsenal around £18m, according to the Mirror, but we’re still hoping to agree a simple loan deal.
However, the two clubs remain keen to find an agreement and Mundo Deportivo claim that fresh negotiations will take place on Monday as Arsenal look to finally strike a deal with Barca to land Suarez this month.
Emery has already confirmed there is no money available for permanent transfers in January so he can only sign Suarez on loan but it remains to be seen whether we can find an agreement with the Catalan giants.
Arsenal desperately need to add fresh blood to the squad as our season is in danger of drifting away after a poor run of recent results and a new attacker is needed with Danny Welbeck out for the rest of the campaign and Henrikh Mkhitaryan also on the sidelines.

Suarez has predominantly been a central attacking midfielder throughout his career but he’s also capable of playing on the wing – where he played during his time with Emery at Sevilla – so he’d give us plenty of options if he does move to Arsenal this month.
